A beautifully made antique kookaburra brooch dating from the late Victorian period, circa 1890. It's crafted in 15 karat gold and set with turquoise and split pearls, and a ruby cabochon eye. The bird, native to eastern mainland Australia, is a member of the kingfisher family and the official bird emblem for New South Wales. This one's sitting on a branch.
